  1. a policy of expansion or growth usually relating to territory or the economy
  • a. suffix: ism – used in the formation of action nouns
  • Sentence:
    • The United States practiced expansionism between the Civil War and World War I as it expanded its borders to the Pacific Ocean.

 

MONITORING: v. (describes an action)

  1. to observe, record, or detect
  • Sentence:
    • The students were monitoring the growth of mold in the petri dish in class.

 

PERSPECTIVE: n. (person, place, thing, or concept)

  1. a technique for drawing volume and spacial relationships on a flat surface
  2. the state of one’s own ideas, or the ability to see all relevant information to a problem or situation
  • Sentence:

  1. the relation between two similar objects, proportion or size
  • Sentence:
