Bricklayer apprentices receive four hour of weekly classroom and shop training in specific aspects of bricklaying, such as constructing a block wall.

Bricklayers lay brick, stone, glass block and related materials, with or without mortar. They also install refractory materials, firebrick, sewer brick, and acid brick. Bricklayer apprentices receive three-and-a-half years of on-the-job training, working beside a journey-level bricklayer. Apprentices also attend four hours of classroom/shop instruction each week from September through June for three years.
