Although she was not a lawyer, she argued a case before the U.S. Supreme Court and won. She is known as the author of the first poem composed by an African-American woman. Lucy Terry Prince was a remarkable woman who had a fascinating, brave life of many accomplishments. Lucy Prince Terry died in 1821, at the age of 97.
