Funnel Cake

 

Ingredients

2 cups of pancake mix

1+1/3 cups of milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

 

Directions:

  1. Measure and place all of the above ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  2. Using a wire whisk mix the ingredients.  (It should be the consistency of pancake mix)
  3. Use a ladle or measuring cup and scoop the mix into a plastic bag.  Let all of the excess air out of the bag and zip the bag. Make sure the batter will not come out of the zipped end of the bag.
  4. Now, on one corner of the bag using the kitchen shears snip the corner.    
  5. Check the amount that will flow out of the bag when you squeeze it from the top.  
  6. It should be between ¼ inch width to 1/3 inch; be careful not to cut too much of the corner off.  Call your teacher when you are on this step.
  7. Fry the funnel cake in the wok using approximately 2 cups of oil. Turn the wok to 400ºF.  Use a spatula to flip the funnel cake.  It should be a golden brown on each side.  Place on some paper towels to drain then dust the cake with powdered sugar.
