McCluer Army JROTC Instructors (Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Darrell M. Gray and Sergeant Major (Retired) Emas Griffin and 12 Cadets attended U.S. Army Cadet Command, 3rd Brigade’s JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) 2019 at Missouri Military Academy (MMA) in Mexico, MO  from 1-6 JUN 2019.  JCLC is a challenging, fun and safe opportunity for Army JROTC Cadets from nearly 30 high schools in Missouri (nearly 400 Cadets) to experience high-adventure, sports, learning activities and teamwork in a controlled setting.  Cadre (made up from each High School Army JROTC Instructors and College Army ROTC Cadets from area Colleges/Universities) ensured that all the attending Cadets were actively engaged and challenged throughout the entire 6 day challenge.

Activities the Cadets participated in were: land navigation, obstacle course, rappelling, leadership reaction course, physical training (P.T.), waterborne operations, drownproofing, marching and meeting & interacting with other High School Army JROTC Cadets, College Army ROTC Cadets and Army JROTC Instructors.  Selected Cadets rotated leadership positions/duties daily, therefore providing them the opportunity to follow and lead, the two components of Army leadership, thus the “Leadership Challenge”.
