‘We needed discipline and structure’ | How a local coach took a team from 0 wins to 9 in a year

McCluer had a tough loss this weekend 18-14 to the St. Mary’s Dragons, but it was one heck of a fight!  At half-time, the game was still tied 0-0.  Goal after goal was thrown out by the referees, when McCluer finally scored half-way through the 3rd quarter with an additional 2 points to break ahead 8-0.  Later, the Dragons would pick up 6.  During the last 5 minutes of the game the Dragons came back to shock the Comets with another goal raising their points to 12 which was followed quickly by the Comets reaching 14.  With 1:50 left in the game St. Mary’s brought home the win scoring 18 to McCluer’s 14.

The school, and district, couldn’t be more proud of the Comet Football Team this season.  They inspired the school and community, and became better men in the process.  Great job Comets!

“God’s definition of success is really one of significance; the significant difference our lives can make in the lives of others…It’s found in the hearts and lives of those we’ve come across who are in some way better because of the way we lived.” — Tony Dungy – at McCluer Senior High School
